Dental Bridge Treatment in Melbourne

Our Dental Bridge Treatment

A bridge is a fixed device used to replace a missing tooth or missing teeth. Available in a range of materials, including porcelain and ceramic, bridges are made to match the colour of your existing teeth for a completely natural-looking result. Because they are anchored to the natural teeth, they are not removable (like dentures, for example).

A dental bridge treatment is an excellent alternative for people who don’t want implants or dentures to replace their missing teeth. As well as the aesthetic benefits, a bridge can help you avoid the dental problems caused by gaps in the teeth, such as gum disease, TMJD disorders, and the rotation or shifting or the remaining teeth (which can lead to a bad bite).

The Procedure

Our bridges are individually crafted to create a natural look and comfortable fit. The dental bridge treatment will require two appointments, during which your dentist will:

  • Prepare the tooth
  • Anaesthetise the area
  • Reshape neighbouring teeth (the abutment) to make room for the bridge
  • Take an impression of the area
  • Send this impression to a dental technician, who will fabricate the bridge
  • Fit you with a temporary bridge to protect the area during fabrication
  • Remove the temporary bridge
  • Assess the shape, colour and fit of the permanent bridge
  • Fit the permanent bridge by bonding it to the abutment

Your new bridge can last anywhere between five and 15 years depending on your dental hygiene and biting, clenching and grinding habits. For more information on our dental bridge treatment, please contact us.
